Funky Kong is an Kong which is always a great ally of the Kong Family and a great help in Donkey Kong franchise.
He is one of Donkey Kong's best friends, a skilled surfer from Kong Island who services his means of transport and always builds something with any junk he finds.
Characteristics
Funky is a gorilla with pale-pink skin and brown fur. His normal outfit is always a red bandana with white polka dots and sunglasses. In Donkey Kong Country & Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, he used a two color (yellow and red) striped pants, green slipper with embroidered with four horizontal colors (green, yellow, orange and red) and a golden amulet written RARE. In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, he used a white sleeveless shirt, blue pants, black shoes with white laces, yellow tool belt and 3 color (black, red and yellow) strap in his right pulse. In Donkey Kong 64, wears a blue-green camouflage outfit, blue-green camouflage cap, black boots and black belt. In current games, he uses the same outfit with was used in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!.
History

Funky Kong meets Donkey Kong & Diddy Kong for the first time in Donkey Kong Country.[1] In that same game to Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Funky provides air services in to travel in his airplane barrels between locations that the Kongs have accessed or completed.
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Funky set up a rental on Northern Kremisphere where his only visitor was Kiddy Kong who took care of him all week before Dixie Kong got here.[2] During the game, Funky built different crafts through the patch and double skis by Dixie and Kiddy. He was working on a secret project that was mentioned by Barter and of course that project was a Gyrocopter that he built because he received all the DK Coins.[3][4]
In Donkey Kong 64, Funky becomes a gunsmith where he sells weapons in respect for the 5 Kongs, ammo belts, homing ammos and a sniper scope. He also appears in K. Rool's final battle where he shoot a large shoe at the villain.
In DK: King of Swing, Funky appears in the intro and complete ending. As playable in the Jungle Jam, his Jump is 2 out of 5 and Attack is 4 out of 5.
In DK: Jungle Climber, Funky charged his services for 5 Oil Barrels on each island to travel on the small islands and the first adversary in the Booster Battle.
In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Funky sells sells colorful balloons with different functions, Heart Boosts, Squawks, Banana Juices, Crash Guards, Buddy Barrels and capsule toys in his Fly 'n' Buy.

In Donkey Kong 3, Funky appears as playable character.
In Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, Funky is sixth playable character from selection in which his Boost is 1 out of 5, Speed is 5 out of 5 and Agility is 1 out of 5. His counterpart is Kludge. If the player complete the Diamond Cup with a individual Kong, he will be unlocked.
Media
In Donkey Kong Country television series, Funky Kong has the same role as the games. In episode Orangutango, Funky is champion in the dance contest called Orangotango and he always wishes for a super-big surf wave when win. In episode Monkey Seer, Monkey Do, Funky have a mystic oracle lamp that can predict the future and he can translate the lamp's predictions with a song.
