A Bridge Too Short is a single-player Donkey Kong minigame featured in Mario Party 7. The minigame's title is a play on the title of the 1977 movie A Bridge Too Far.
Gameplay[edit]
The introduction shows the player's character walking up to the first pair of bridges, then the screen splits to show Donkey Kong, and the game starts.
The player's character races against Donkey Kong to reach the finish line. They have to pick one of the two bridges to cross. There are four pairs of bridges that lead to the finish line, each pair having a correct bridge and a hidden broken bridge. If the character crosses a bridge and it suddenly breaks, they lose some time to get to the other bridge. If the player's character chooses the correct bridge, they proceed to the second pair of bridges and so on until they reach the finish line. To win the minigame, the player's character must be the first to cross the finish line.
Donkey Kong usually takes a while to choose a bridge. Both the character's and Donkey Kong's bridge choices affect what occurs on their rival's side of the screen, so if Donkey Kong's bridge breaks, the same one on the player character's end breaks as well. A way for the player's character to potentially avoid falling behind is by allowing Donkey Kong to choose a bridge first.
